Have you ever been on a cruise? I saw these images of a brand new Royal Caribbean cruise ship worth 2 billion dollars. I don’t know whether to be wowed or horrified. There’s something to write about here. I wonder if there’s enough tension between the viewpoints of those confronting our planet’s many existential cataclysms head on, and those surrendering to delicious seaborne hedonism to escape from it all. I want to trap them on this big ass boat and find out what happens. Maybe later. Maybe you should try it and let me know how it goes down.
Frank Watkinson. This gentleman made the rounds all over the internet a while back with his sparse, yet deeply emotional covers. It doesn’t take a production to connect with others. His cover of Death Cab’s I Will Follow You into the Dark showed up on my YouTube stream once again and locked me in a room full of freshly cut onions.
Found Tarkovsky’s classic Stalker on YouTube. I love having this movie on when I’m in need of inspiration. For additional context on this most oblique film, check out this episode of The Nighthawks podcast, dedicated to making heads and/or tails of this pensive masterpiece.
Arts Calling friend of the show Raegen Pietrucha released a blog series on her website about poetry book publishing, publicity, and marketing journey. If you’re going into self-publishing, it is definitely worth a read! Be sure to check out our reunion episode linked above!
The Writing Record is a quick recap of what I’m working on. I post it here and on cruzfolio.com. Check it out if you wanna hear updates and recordings about the creative process directly from the horse’s mouth. Have I been a horse this whole time and no one’s bothered to tell me?
Also, as a creative challenge, I’m trying to make content using only my phone. I created this visual poem to start things off. It reminds me of the days when I was a kid, walking around my home and neighborhood just recording shots and angles for the fun of it. More to come.
The Coalition for Digital Narratives premiered coalitionworks: a quarterly lit journal featuring poetry, short fiction, and more! We focus on short-form work that speaks to the absurd nature of the cosmos and the joy that keeps existentialism at bay. I’m so grateful to the writers and artists featured in our debut issue for their trust and wonderful work! Go to the coalition website to read it for free! Also, here’s a preview of it:
And a special shoutout to Vegetarian Alcoholic Press for their outstanding customer service and for their incredible mission to print works by authors often overlooked by traditional outlets. I’m loving these amazing reads!

That’s it.
If you’re an independent creative looking to talk about your latest work and chat about life and craft, let’s get you on the Arts Calling Podcast! I’m back on Twitter @cruzfolio and Instagram too.
Go make a dent. I’ll try to do the same. Much love,
